The last month I’ve been having internet problems so I haven’t had the access to update frequently but it’s back.
I added a couple new categories, some new illustration and a whole bunch of alters and playmats that I’ve been doing with more to come.

New Commissions Price List

So every other artist I’ve seen has a commission price list. I’ve gotten a lot of interest for my playmats and card alters so I decided to post my own price list. You can see examples of all the work in my portfolio.

Sketchcards:
Pencil/Ink: $5 Marker/Color Pencil: $10

Character Sketches on 9×12 Bristol Board:
Pencil/Ink: $20 Marker/Color Pencil: $30

Comic Page Rate:
Pencils: $80

Magic the Gathering :
Card Alters: $5-$25 (Depends on complexity, you provide cards.)
Custom Tokens: $5-$7 (Colored Pencil or Marker)
Custom Playmats: It varies, could be from as low as $35 to as high as $75
Depends on a few factors. Contact me and we can talk about it.

Time of completion depends on the amount of orders I have. Nothing outrageous though. Except for the playmats, they take some time.
Shipping isn’t included in the mentioned prices. I accept Paypal and I ship through the US Post Office.

New Magic the Gathering Category

Since I have so many Magic related items I decided to make a category for it. I uploaded lots of new token cards (which have been trading very well) and I started doing Magic card alters. I put the first few up, they are a little rough but with more practice they will get better.

NY Comic Con Report

Well the NYCC has come and gone. Suffice to say I wasn’t thrilled with it this year compared to previous ones. I went on Sat. which was by far probably the busiest day. As soon as I entered I knew something was off because all I saw was kids/teenagers in Anime costumes. Now I like Anime as much as the next comic fan but when did NYCC become all about anime cosplay? There was anime stuff in the past but it seemed to be separate from the comic stuff, this year was not the case. Plus every anime costume has some ridiculously large prop like a giant sword or a big weapon to carry around making the crowds even harder to navigate through. I saw a lot less superhero costumes than the last two years too. It seemed a lot of the smaller publishers didn’t have booths this year (or I never saw them because of the large amount of people). Wizards of the Coast didn’t have a booth and there were no Magic tournaments to go play in like past years, which I really enjoyed as a break from walking around the convention. Oni Press had a portfolio review but I was denied because they cut off the line 3 people in front of me. That frustrated me because I’m a professional designer and freelance illustrator and I couldn’t get in a portfolio review because the line was packed with students or people who really didn’t have any business being there. I’ve heard some stories from cons why comic folk don’t like to review portfolios. I just saw it first hand. People without sequential pages (aren’t all comics sequential pages? Why would you not have this!), portfolios filled with college art projects and pin ups (I’ve heard numerous editors say this is a bad idea), people who look like they didn’t shower that day (seriously a portfolio review is like a job interview, would you not shower and wear black nail polish [guys, not girls] to an interview? I know I wouldn’t!), etc. etc.

After that though the day seemed to get smoother, maybe cause it was getting late and people started to clear out but I was able to talk to a few folks. I met a ton of Hasbro people through my brother (Here’s his site), I went to the Comix Tribe booth and got all their new releases and talked to the guys there, I also met a couple other freelancers. I saw my friend’s booth were she was promoting her M3 comic (I have a pin up in issue #2), which she had nice plastic upright stands to showcase her issues and a banner of her character as featured in the A.N.A. Comics Breast Cancer Awareness Swimsuit Issue (Which I am in by the way). I saw my friend from DC Comics and dropped off my portfolio there and got some insight on the next cons I should attend to get some reviews of my work. So I ended up walking away with some decent info for next year. I got out of NYC just in time because an army of cops started to close of streets because of the Occupy Wall Street protests.

A.N.A. Comics Swimsuit Charity Special

So my good Erica and I have gotten pieces in the A.N.A. Comics Swimsuit Charity Special. All profits from this book get donated to cancer research. We also both made the cover! How cool is that?! So go to http://anacomics.com/ and pre order your book for $10 plus shipping. It’s a good cause and it supports all the artists that donated to the book.

I will also be attending NYC Comic Con on the 15th. My friend Erica has a table to promote her book “M3″ and I am bringing my recent comic samples to get some reviews. (Buy her book at Indy Planet or at Amused.com)

And I have also been selling playmats at some recent Magic tournaments, and I also have started to make custom token cards (kind of like sketch cards). So if you’re interested in any of that or original work send me an email. I’ll have a price list soon.
